Vimeo

Keeping sources intact, I saw this post over at Ze’s blog, and spent some good, happy time watching lib dubs. I recommend it.

Then poke around. And if you’re into the net biz in the slightest way, maybe you click the About link, like you do at every interesting site you run across, finding out about the people behind the pages. You’re curious. And you get to learn about the people behind Vimeo, the host of the videos, and see a fun, young NY crowd having a blast. Getting it done with style.

If you were only so cool.

Special Effects

There’s that scene in the first Lord of the Rings movie… the one with Cate Blanchett playing the elf queen showing Frodo the birdbath of the future or something. That scene kills me. Floors me. Every time. With its heinous, god-awful special effects treatment. Who, in their right minds, thought that simply throwing the picture into negative and booming out her voice was an adequate measure? It’s shabby and cheap, an afterthought considering what the rest of the film accomplishes. I just can’t stand to watch that scene anymore.

Sorry, but I needed to get that off my chest.

Firebug

One amazing tool. Web development without it… a painful thought at best.

This post over at Coding Horror reminded me of something that I’ve wanted to do for years – give back to the determined, open source programmers who’ve made my job easier, even possible. So to follow suit, I’ve dropped a little fruit of my labor into Firebug’s basket, and hope to continue doing so for other projects. If you too depend on open source software for your well being, then I encourage you to do the same.
